Football, especially in Africa, serves as a beloved and accessible sport that not only provides entertainment but also empowers young people to overcome hardships and reach their full potential.

In Rwanda, football has become more than just a national pastime; it is a tool for social change, uniting people of different backgrounds. For children and youth, playing football fosters teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and leadership skills that are vital for their future.

Rising Stars Sports Center https://rsc.org.rw/ , initiated by Bridge of Hope on July 20th, 2024, aims to provide children in rural villages with the opportunity to engage in sports, particularly football, while promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and Christian values.

The initiative, supported by passionate community members, including the president of the RSC, parent committees, coaches, and volunteers, started with 42 children (19 girls and 23 boys) from Nzige Sector in Rwamagana District.  

The program’s success is marked by the excitement and pride it has generated, fostering inclusivity and teamwork among young athletes from diverse economic backgrounds. As the initiative continues to grow, it aims to bridge the gap in sports accessibility within the community.

Engagement in sports not only supports personal development but also offers long-term benefits for the community. Sports provide children and youth with positive outlets, reducing the likelihood of negative behaviors such as substance abuse, crime, or early pregnancy. Additionally, excelling in sports can lead to scholarship opportunities, enabling access to education and career paths that might otherwise be out of reach.

Our passionate team will continue to train, facilitate, and engage children from rural villages in sports activities as they learn and have fun together with their coaches.
